This week on Techy Tuesday, we’ll be taking a look at Microsoft’s first console.( As well as a console some people didn’t know exist’s)The legendary
The first installment in the Xbox series is a home video game console made by Microsoft. Microsoft wanted to create a device that would hopefully compete with the PlayStation 2 during this time. 4 developers started taking out a Dell laptop to work on their very first prototype to show the staff. The device became announced March 10, 2000, at a Game Developer Conference. The Xbox released November 15, 2001, in North America and February 22, 2002, in Japan.
It had a pretty big game library
It’s grand debut featured Bill Gates and the Rock(Dwayne Johnson) on stage together January 23,2001. Let’s not forgot Xbox Live, that’s right! This gave Microsoft a head start in the online game community with this feature. With titles such as Halo: Combat Evolved, GoldenEye 007, Perfect Dark, and Medal of Honor, the console was looking great!
This device had a pretty good run for being the first installment in the future lineup. Selling over 24 million devices worldwide, it wasn’t until March 2, 2009, this device was discontinued. There was even a banned trailer for this device, if you watch it, you’ll know why. Because of this console, Microsoft has now become a big deal in the game industry with new installments. With successors like the Xbox 360 to better and more powerful consoles like the Xbox One, One S, and Xbox One X. What do you think of the original Xbox? Were you the group that owned this device? Tell me in the comments below!
And that’s all for Techy Tuesday! Hopefully, you learned something new about Microsoft’s first console. Tune in next week to find out what console we’ll talk about next on Techy Tuesday.
